We believe that the work of helping people and developing therapists is cyclical — the more we invest in our mental health professionals, the greater the impact their work has, and as they help more people, their skills will continue to be cultivated and refined. CityReach Family Therapy was created to be a space where this ongoing education, training, support, and mentorship can happen, for the betterment of both our profession and the people in our community.

Supervision

At CityReach, we are dedicated to supporting and caring for those who are beginning their journey as therapists, and we offer both individual and group supervision for providers seeking licensure. Aspiring providers will refine their clinical skills as they receive faith focused guidance and feedback from our experienced supervisory therapists. The extensive clinical background and training of our supervosry therapists will serve as a resource for new providers as they explore systemic dynamics, intervention strategies, and the therapist's role within the therapeutic process.

We actively value, nurture, and encourage these principles:

  • Navigating complex situations while upholding ethical standards.

  • Exploring how cultural factors influence the therapeutic scene.

  • Setting and achieving goals with supervisory guidance and support.

CityReach Supervisors

  • Dr. David Kaptain, Ph.D, LMFT, CADC

    David’s approach to supervision is collaborative and integrative, much like the work he does with clients in therapy. Supervisees are encouraged to identify ways they already have effectively addressed challenges in their work with clients, and to apply these to new and varied situations in their work with people. Therapists working with David will experience improved confidence and competence in looking at clients’ issues with a wider and more comprehensive lens, taking into account the client’s family and community situation, interaction patterns, and history. Therapeutic models that influence his work include: solution-focused, motivational interviewing, narrative, and family systems therapy. David is an AAMFT approved supervisor candidate.

Group Supervision & Consultation

We wholeheartedly believe that creating space to learn from and support one another in the therapeutic work we do is an essential part of developing therapists. Our Group Supervision and Consultation at CityReach is more than just a meeting; it's a dynamic and collaborative learning experience that fosters growth, enhances clinical skills and knowledge of systemic based therapy, and cultivates a supportive professional community. Consultation is designed to empower mental health professionals at all stages of their careers. Whether you are an experienced therapist looking for fresh insights, or a novice therapist eager to learn from your peers, our group supervision and consultation time will provide an opportunity for providers to come together to talk about cases, share knowledge, swap experiences, and navigate challenges all in an approachable and caring environment.
